North Las Vegas man shot after firing at police
North Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A 52-year-old man was shot by North Las Vegas police shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday.
According to the North Las Vegas Police Department, officers responded to a home in the 5400 block of Winterdale Street because of a report that man was trying to injure himself with various weapons.
According to preliminary investigation, five police officers entered the home and attempted to make contact with the man.
That man fired a gun at officers and two officers returned fire, striking him several times.
The man was transported to University Medical Center in serious condition. The officers were not injured.
Both officers, a 5-year and a 6-year veteran of the police department, have been placed on administrative leave. Their names will be released within 48 hours in accordance with Nevada law.
The investigation into the incident is still open and further information will be released as it becomes available.
