Las Vegas using new tactic to catch speeding drivers
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas police are taking new steps to try and stop the rising death toll on valley roads.
But, those steps might catch you off guard.
High speed, wide roads and reckless drivers and pedestrians make for a fatal but all too familiar equation.
So, police are taking a new kind of action to monitor more roads while not necessarily revealing themselves.
One tactic involves using a truck stopped on the side of the road supposedly because of a flat tire.
But, if you look closely, the driver of the truck has a police badge peaking out from under his jacket.
The police officers is actually using a radar gun and binoculars to catch cars that are speeding.
It is the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's newest way of trying to stop the growing number of accidents.
Not everyone likes the idea but others are all for it.
Police say that regardless if they are in an unmarked car or in full uniform, it all comes down to the actions of the drivers.
