Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A 70-year-old man had to be rescued Tuesday afternoon after falling about 20 feet into a ventilation shaft  in front of the Tropicana Hotel and Casino.

Crews from the Clark County Fire Department and the Technical Rescue Team from Las Vegas Fire & Rescue responded to the incident.

A ladder was lowered into the shaft and the man was evaluated before being lifted out with a basket.

The entire process took about one hour to complete, according to Clark County officials.

The Clark County Building Department was called in to assess the status and security of the shaft and area after the incident.

The man sustained moderate injuries.
