Las Vegas Oscar Party to benefit local learning center
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Oscars are coming up on Sunday, Feb. 24, and many people will be celebrating at the only official Oscar Party in Las Vegas.
Proceeds will benefit the Variety Early Learning Center.
From the time they were babies, students have thrived at the center. It's geared towards kids ages six weeks to 12-years-old.
The staff has done a great job at making the space warm and friendly, but the building is falling apart. It has low ceilings and block walls. They are in desperate need of a new space.
The Variety Early Learning Center won a bid to re-purpose a 23,000 square foot space at Lorenzi Park, the former site of the Nevada State Museum.
"We'll be able to double our student capacity," said Dr. Arnold Stalk, Variety Club board member.
Renovations are underway, but they plan to keep some of the museum's features, including a dinosaur replica, which the kids will love.
The Oscar Party will specifically pay to equip the space with tables, chairs, cribs, toys and all the tools early learners need.
