Ex-Washoe DA, WWII vet Streeter dead at 91
RENO, Nev. (AP) -- Former Washoe County district attorney Jack Streeter has died.
Streeter was one Nevada's most decorated veterans of World War II, according to the Reno Gazette Journal. He died Saturday at the age of 91.
Streeter was a 22-year-old Army lieutenant with the 1st Infantry Division known as the Big Red One when the Normandy Invasion took place in June 1944. He was in the wave that stormed Omaha Beach amid a hail of enemy fire. He told the Gazette-Journal in an interview in 2009, "It's the kind of thing you don't want to remember.
Streeter was Washoe County district attorney from 1951-54.
A memorial service is planned Thursday 2 p.m. at Walton's Funeral Home in Reno.
He's survived by his wife, Vera, son, Jackson, and three grandchildren.
