LAS VEGAS (AP) -- No one showed up to seek an extension, and a judge in Las Vegas dissolved of a protective order that had been issued for the wife of a troubled Nevada state lawmaker.

Neither Assemblyman Steven Brooks nor his wife, Ada, appeared Tuesday for a brief Clark County Family Court hearing.

Steven Brooks' lawyer, Mitchell Posin, says Brooks was in Carson City.

Posin says he won't talk about the family relationship.

In the last month, the Democrat from North Las Vegas has been arrested twice, undergone a psychiatric evaluation, was banned from meetings with party colleagues in the Assembly and banished from the Nevada Legislature building.

Last Friday, Brooks was kicked out of a Reno casino restaurant.

An Assembly committee will consider whether to expel Brooks from the Legislature.
