FAA: Helicopter pilot killed in crash near Ely
ELY, Nev. (AP) -- A pilot is dead after the crash of a helicopter during an aerial seeding operation near the eastern Nevada city of Ely.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says the pilot was the only person aboard the Bell 206B aircraft when it went down about 3 p.m. Monday about 50 miles west of Ely.
The name of the pilot wasn't immediately released.
The aircraft was registered to El Aero Services in Ely, where a company official wasn't immediately available Tuesday.
The cause of the crash is being investigated by the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board.
The White Pine County sheriff's office is also investigating.
