Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Despite a lengthy search by federal and local authorities for Christopher Dorner in Las Vegas, it appears police are closing in on him near Big Bear in California.

FBI agents searched Christopher Dorner's Las Vegas home last week.

Since then, billboards flashed Dorner's face on local highways, urging anyone who spotted him to call police.

The Las Vegas Metro Police Dept. and Henderson Police Dept. took extra precautions, doubling up in patrol vehicles and halting the use of bikes and motorcycles as patrol vehicles.

Dorner is accused of killing three people in Southern California after publishing an online manifesto targeting the Los Angeles Police Dept.

The LAPD fired Dorner a few years ago. Since then, it's believed he developed a plan to exact revenge on the department.

A days-long massive search for Dorner came to a head on Tuesday after reports came in that he was spotted in the San Bernadino Mountains near Big Bear.

A tense scene played out at a rural area there, where conflicting reports swirled.
