AT&T outage being repaired in northern Nevada
RENO, Nev. (AP) -- Some AT&T customers in northern Nevada continue to be without all their phone and Internet services, including access to 911 in some cases.
Washoe County communications supervisor Clay Griffin said Tuesday there has been significant improvement in restoring service in the Reno-Sparks area since a widespread outage affected voice, cellphone and Internet access Monday night.
However, he says most Internet data lines remain down and there are pockets of land lines without service.
Reno city spokeswoman Michele Anderson told the Reno Gazette-Journal calls made on cellphones appear to be going through to emergency dispatch but 911 calls on land lines aren't working.
AT&T regional rep John Britton told KOLO-TV they're addressing a software-related issue in Reno's central office. He says the outage also affected Winnemucca, Ely and Hawthorne.
