Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Tens of thousands of visitors are in town this weekend to ring in the Chinese New Year on Sunday, and celebrations are already underway.

The Venetian and Palazzo kicked off its Chinese New Year celebrations Saturday.

The attraction at the Palazzo features a 98-foot animated blue snake named "Sophie Chow."

Sophie lives in a peach tree in the waterfall and atrium gardens.

Her blue skin pays tribute to 2013, which is the Water Year.
