Vote: Will you miss getting mail on Saturdays?
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The United States Postal Service is struggling financially, and looking for any way to survive.
After shutting down thousands of offices and laying off thousands of workers, post office officials say cutting back on deliveries is the only way to satisfy the bottom line.
On Wednesday, Action News spoke with locals who have mixed feelings about the change.
"If it keeps the institution of the post office alive, I think it would be a good thing," said Frank Sluzynski.
Others said they receive mostly junk mail on Saturdays, anyways.
But some are upset they won't receive mail they are accustomed to receiving each Saturday.
Local postal workers are currently being told the elimination of Saturday deliveries will not result in layoffs.
Just because you won't receive mail on Saturdays, doesn't mean you can't send it. Post office hours will remain the same, and Saturday pickup from drop-off mail boxes will continue.
P.O. Boxes will continue to get mail on Saturdays.
