Coroner IDs man killed in Vegas hit-and-run crash
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Authorities have identified a 53-year-old pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run accident in Las Vegas.
Clark County coroner's officials say Lawrence Lancaster was pronounced dead at University Medical Center about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, shortly after being struck on Sahara Avenue.
Investigators say Lancaster was walking on a sidewalk east of Tam Drive when he either fell or lay down in the street.
A westbound vehicle struck him and failed to stop. The vehicle was described as an early 2000s gray sedan.
It was the 16th traffic-related fatality this year in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction.
