Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Troops fighting overseas will not be forgotten this Valentine's Day, thanks to children here in the Valley.

Volunteers mailed more than 2,000 cards and letters to soldiers in Afghanistan.

This was all made possible by the Douglas J. Green Memorial Foundation.

Green was killed while serving in Afghanistan. The foundation was started in his honor, to give back to the troops.

"The kids love doing things like this for the troops, and showing them we're still thinking about them always from home," said Suni Erlanger.

The cards were made, and then collected from local students and other students from around the country.
