LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A Saudi Arabia air force sergeant accused of abducting and raping a 13-year-old boy on New Year's Eve is heading for trial in Nevada.

Mazen Alotaibi gave up his right Thursday to an evidence hearing in the case.

That meant the boy didn't have to testify.

Defense attorney Don Chairez says there's still evidence to collect and he's trying to negotiate a resolution that avoids trial.

Prosecutors added two new lewdness charges to kidnapping, sexual assault with a minor, and other counts against the 23-year-old aircraft mechanic.

Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Bill Kephart increased bail to $1.72 million.

Alotaibi could face life in prison if he's convicted.

Chairez says his client will plead not guilty at arraignment Feb. 6.
