Vacant two-story home catches fire near Jones & Ann
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas Fire & Rescue responded to a house fire Thursday morning at about 1:30 a.m. in the 5400 block of Rock Creek Lane near North Jones Boulevard and West Ann Road.
When firefighters arrived, heavy flames were visible, mostly from the garage area. Because of the intensity of the fire, it took about 40 minutes to bring it under control.
The fire gutted the garage and damaged part of the second floor. The rest of the house sustained heavy smoke damage. The damage is estimated at $125,000.
Neighbors told fire investigators that the house had been vacant for the past four or five months. Neighbors also said that someone may have been stealing in the house and that person was stealing utilities from neighboring homes.
