Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Some local schools now have extra learning materials following a generous donation.

City National Bank donated hundreds of new books and cash totaling more than $30,000 to Jack Dailey, Helen Jydstrup and Clyde Cox Elementary Schools.

The donations were part of City National's "Reading is the Way Up" literacy program.

"Our sole purpose of this program is to get as many books as we can into the classrooms, into the hands of children. Through literacy, we believe that children can receive a better education if they can get their hands on and get access to more books," said Paul Stowell, City National Bank.

The books were collected during City National and Barnes & Noble's annual holiday book donation drive last month.
