Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Construction crews are back on the job at a Valley road project after the second work stoppage in nearly two years.
Businesses near Boulder Highway and East Sahara Avenue turned to Action News after work appeared to stop in mid-January. The construction has blocked off sections of both roads, limiting access to adjacent businesses.
"We need to get this completed for everybody in this neighborhood," said Don Hamrick, general manager of Chapman's Value Center car dealership.
Action News started looking into the project last February after hearing complaints from businesses about road access. The first stoppage came in March when the original contractor abandoned the job, leaving Clark County to hire a new crew, according to the county.
The $9 million drainage project was supposed to be finished by last summer.
"It's cut us in half," said Hamrick. "Ironically, it's cost the county more than $1 million in tax revenue as a result."
It's a similar story at the nearby Walgreen's drug store.
"It's not just a once in a while thing," said pharmacy manager Melanie Baldonado. "People have to deal with this everyday."
The January stoppage lasted about ten days as the county and contractor negotiated additional tasks, said county spokesman Dan Kulin. Crews are back on the job and the break is not expected to affect the revised, anticipated completion date of May, he said.
"We do see people out here today and that makes us hopeful," Hamrick said.
