President Obama speaks about immigration reform at local high school
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- President Barack Obama made a special trip to Las Vegas today to talk to a crowd at Del Sol High School at immigration reform.
The president was greeted with cheers and whistles as he approached the podium at 11:40 a.m. this morning.
He then spoke for 25 minutes about his comprehensive immigration reform proposal. He spoke about three things specifically -- helping illegal immigrants become citizens; illegal immigration enforcement; and updating the legal immigration system.
President Obama headed straight back to McCarran International Airport after his speech and was gone soon after.
His visit to Nevada last less than an hour and a half. One quarter of the population in Nevada is made up of Latinos. They voted for Obama by a 2-to-1 margin last fall.
The president visited Nevada several times while he was on the campaign trail for re-election.
