CCSD zoning commission recommends new school zones
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The zoning commission for the Clark County School District is recommending new attendance boundaries for schools in the southern part of the Las Vegas Valley.
The decision was made at a meeting of the commission on Tuesday. Redrawing the lines would affect about 2,400 students among 20 different schools.
The issue is overcrowding. The Clark County School District says there are simply too many families with children moving into the area and there are not enough schools for them.
A lot of folks have been very vocal in the opposition against plans to deal with the issue. Not only is the school district considering rezoning, but they have also been looking at returning to a year-round schedule at some schools or installing portables.
CCSD's school board will make a final decision on March 6.
