Woman dead after fire near Desert Inn and Durango
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A woman in her late 50s is dead after a fire this morning near West Desert Inn Road and South Durango Drive, according to fire officials.
The fire was reported at about 2:30 a.m. this morning at the Monaco Park Apartments in the 8300 block of West Desert Inn.
Upon arrival at the scene, the Clark County Fire Department discovered fire in the living room area of a ground-floor apartment.
The fire was under control in less than 10 minutes and did not spread to other apartments. Neighbors were temporarily evacuated but are back inside their homes.
After the fire was extinguished, fire crews discovered a middle-aged woman in the apartment,. She was pronounced dead at the scene. No other civilians or firefighters were injured.
Eleven units and 30 personnel from CCFD and Las Vegas Fire & Rescue responded to the invident.
At this time, there is no information about what started the fire or the exact cause of death. Damage is estimated at $10,000.
The Clark County coroner's office will release the identity of the woman after relatives have been notified.
