A tearful goodbye to mother, former police officer killed
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A mother shot to death is being remembered as a woman who spent her entire life serving others.
It was a chance to not only remember Michelle Walters, the popular former Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer, but the woman behind badge; a woman who balanced her career, along with her life at Camp Firefly, a summer camp for kids battling cancer, where Walters was affectionately known as wonder woman.
"I may not have known Michelle, but I knew Wonder Woman and she was my friend, and she was kind, and she was giving, and she was strong, and she was independent, and she was just plain amazing" said one fellow counselor.
Police say Michelle’s husband, LVMPD's Lt. Hans Walters shot and killed her and their 5-year old son before setting their Boulder City home on fire, and turning the gun on himself.
