Young girl killed in accident near Arizona-Nevada border
KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) -- Authorities say they're interviewing a possible suspect in a hit-and-run accident near the Arizona-Nevada border that killed a 7-year-old Phoenix girl.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety says no arrest has been made in the case yet.
The girl was struck on a switchback road north of U.S. 93 some 7 miles from the Hoover Dam's recreational area about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Her name hasn't been released.
DPS officials say the girl and her family were headed to Idaho. The family's car was stopped on the side of the road -- likely for sightseeing purposes -- and she darted across the road for an unknown reason.
The girl was pronounced dead at the scene.
DPS spokesman Bart Graves says the SUV involved was later found in the Lake Mead area.
