Henderson bar holds fundraiser for family of toddler killed in crash
Henderson, NV (KTNV) -- A local bar and grill is doing its part to help out a family dealing with a terrible loss.
Hammer's Grill & Bar in Henderson held a fundraiser Saturday to raise money for the Kay family.
Emily Kay died in a collision Monday at Pebble and Eastern. Her father was driving the car.
Turns out, Emily was in a booster seat but it wasn't the proper seat for a child her age and size.
Emily's mother had once worked at Hammer's and owner Bob Fleming wanted to do what he could to help out.
"That's what neighborhood pubs do. Help out in a time of need like that," said Fleming. "We're just having some drinks and some chili, and people come and have that, and we'll give it all to her and just try and help out with expenses."
All of the money donated from Saturday's fundraising event will go to help the family with Emily's funeral expenses.
If you missed the fundraiser, you can stop by any time over the next few days to make a donation.
