Parents want answers after son's neck zip tied on school bus
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Some local parents are fired up after they say their son had a zip tie put around his neck last Friday on the school bus.
Now, those parents want the students who did it to face harsh consequences.
Katherine Pridemore's son Kaelen is a freshman at Del Sol High School. He has autism.
According to police reports, two older girls were involved in putting the zip tie around his neck last Friday afternoon.
"I found out it was tight enough where it didn't fit over his head," Kaelen's dad said. "They had to pry the thing apart...yeah, I was upset."
The parents say their son could have been killed it the zip tie had been tighter.
"They need to be held accountable for what they did to Kaelen, that's why we even hired an attorney," said Katherine.
Meanwhile, a school district spokesperson said administrators have taken appropriate action.
"Everyone agrees that this was a group of teenagers that made some very bad decisions," said spokeswoman Amanda Fulkerson. "Unfortunately, there wasn't enough evidence to take disciplinary action against the entire group, but the student who was involved that we believe to have actually executed this act has actually some very strong disciplinary action against them."
"We are very aware of this incident, actually all the way up to the district level," Fulkerson said.
The Pridemores have filed a report with the Las Vegas Metro Police Department and an investigator was assigned to the case.
