Fire destroys house near Alta and Valley View
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A house caught fire near Alta and Valley View on Friday afternoon.
The fire was reported at about 4:50 p.m. on the 600 block of Kenny Way.
Two adults and two large dogs were able to get out of the home safely.
When crews arrived, heavy flames were showing from the rear of the one-story wood frame house. Thick black smoke filled the sky that could be seen from all around the Valley.
The flames were getting dangerously close to the house next door.
A second alarm was dispatched, bringing a total of 23 units with 60 personnel to the scene from Las Vegas and Clark County.
The fire gutted the inside of the house and caused heavy damage to the rear of the house.
Damage was estimated at $150,000.
The fire destroyed just about everything the occupants had in the home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire investigators believe it started outside on the back patio of the home.
No injuries were reported.
The American Red Cross is assisting the residents displaced by the fire.
