Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Emily Kay was killed on Monday when the car her father was driving was involved in a crash at the intersection of Pebble and Eastern.

Just down the street from where the 3-year-old lost her life, a vigil was held Thursday night.

Friends, family and complete strangers gathered to remember Emily at Pebble Park, where the little girl loved to play.

Those attending the vigil were asked to wear pink and purple, Emily's favorite colors. They held balloons in the same colors, and lit candles in her memory.

Those at the vigil tearfully mourned the loss of Emily in a tragedy that could have been prevented. Witnesses at the scene of the crash said an SUV turned left on a yellow flashing light when it shouldn't have, striking the car that Emily's father, Casey, was driving.

Police say Emily was not in a proper car seat at the time. She was in a booster seat meant for children who are five or six years old.

Casey was seriously injured in the crash. He underwent surgery on Thursday and remains in the hospital with a lengthy road to recovery.

Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Meanwhile, Emily's family says they are grateful for the outpouring of support from the community.

A fundraiser will be held Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at Hammer's Bar and Grill on East Horizon Drive in Henderson. Proceeds will help the family pay for Emily's funeral.
