1 dead, 3 injured in house fire near Alta and Valley View
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- One person is dead this morning after a fire swept through a house on the 4300 block of Nolan Lane, near Alta Drive and Valley View Boulevard, shortly after midnight today.
According to initial reports, four men lived in the house. One of them was watching television and smelled smoke and then saw fire under a bedroom door.
He and another roommate were able to escape. Upon exiting the residence, the two men and a neighbor helped a third roommate out of a window.
Las Vegas Fire & Rescue discovered heavy smoke and flames upon arrival. Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire in about 10 minutes. Afterwards, they discovered the body of the fourth roommate in the house.
According to the occupants of the house, the man that died was bedridden from some type of injury.
The three other occupants of the house were taken to the hospital for minor smoke inhalation and possible carbon monoxide poisioning. Their injuries were non-life threatening.
A pet dog inside the house escaped uninjured.
The men had lived together in the house for two to three years.
Las Vegas fire investigators have ruled the cause of the fire as undetermined.
The Clark County coroner will release the identification of the victim.
The house was gutted by the fire. Damage is estimated at $100,000.
