Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Plumbers around the Valley have been working overtime to fix busted pipes that were frozen overnight.

The cold weather is causing major headaches for homeowners, including in at least one neighborhood in Summerlin, where several pipes have burst.

One home had water spewing from a broken sprinkler line, flooding the side of the home.

The plumber who responded said he'll be working through the night to help fix these types of issues around the area.

Plumbers said, in most cases, the pipes burst because they don't have the proper insulation.

Action News cameras even caught evidence of pipes bursting around the Valley, from an overflowing water fountain to a geyser that sprayed a tree and formed icicles on the branches.

"The pipes will freeze and the ice will expand and crack the pipe," said Don Darden with Daren Plumbing. "That will leave a place for the water to come out."

Darden said homeowners want to protect any exposed pipes with a blanket overnight to prevent water from freezing.
