Miss America makes first public visit with military members
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Just hours after being crowned, the new Miss America made her first public appearance Sunday afternoon.
Mallory Hagan, Miss New York, won the beauty pageant Saturday night at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.
Sunday, she stopped by the USO Las Vegas Center at McCarran Airport.
She met with members of the military and offered her personal thanks for their service.
"Just a simple thank you is always helpful and I'm so glad my first stop was the ability to say thank you to the people who fight for my freedom everyday," said Hagan.
Hagen won a $50,000 college scholarship and gets the crown for one year.
Her platform is stopping child sexual abuse.
