Teen accused of robbing beauty store then skateboarding away
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A teen faces felony charges after police say he robbed a store then got away on a skateboard.
Police say he faked having a gun in order to get a couple hundred dollars from a beauty supply store.
Photos taken by Metro officers show the tool he used to fake a gun, and some of the cash he got away with it, along with a skateboard.
Once the 911 call came in, officers on Sergeant George Donelson's squad rushed the area of Desert Inn and Eastern.
Within about five minutes, they found a minor matching the description walking with his skateboard just a few blocks away.
The street they found him on is actually the street he lives on with his parents.
"The initial call was that he had committed an armed robbery," Sgt. Donelson said. "The person he robbed at the business believed he had a gun and had given him money, and had ran out of the store with his skateboard."
In cases like this, police hope teens learn their lesson and face the consequences now, to prevent them from committing more serious crimes in the future.
