Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Las Vegas City Council is joining forces with the United Way of Southern Nevada to make Las Vegas a better place to live.

Together, they're developing the Downtown Ambassador Program.

The idea is to boost volunteerism and raise awareness about downtown businesses.

The United Way says it will use its volunteer force to conduct at least two downtown clean-ups annually as part of the program.

The program will be housed at the historic Fifth Street School.
