Local drug task force recognized for large meth bust
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Southern Nevada Drug Task Force is receiving national recognition for the largest methamphetamine seizure in the history of Clark County.
The SNDTF was recognized in Washington, D.C., for "excellence in an investigative effort which resulted in dismantlement of three distinct yet connected major drug-trafficking organizations.
The investigation resulted in the seizure of 213 pounds of meth. In a two-and-a-half-year period, SNDTF seized a total of about 480 pounds of meth, 42 pounds of heroin, 21 pounds of cocaine, 37 pounds of marijuana, more than 86,000 outdoor marijuana plants and $783,000.
The SNDTF is comprised of members from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Drug Enforcement Administration, Henderson Police Department, North Las Vegas Police Department, and Clark County District Attorney's office.
The LVMPD will host a press conference on Friday to formally announce the recognition.
