Police ID suspects, officer in Las Vegas shooting
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Authorities say a 28-year-old man remains in the hospital after exchanging gunfire with Las Vegas police over the weekend.
Police say Brandon Joseph Ogonowski has been booked in absentia on suspicion of attempted murder of a police officer and other charges.
Police say they'd been investigating a suspicious parked vehicle on Sunrise Avenue about 4 a.m. Sunday when officers recognized one of the people inside as a suspect in a robbery and shooting last month.
Police say the vehicle fled the scene, and Ogonowski and 24-year-old Christina Harrington later fled on foot in different directions.
Officials say that Ogonowski fired a handgun in the pursuit, and 39-year-old Officer Daniel Garmendia returned fire and injured him.
Harrington was arrested on suspicion of robbery in connection with a Dec. 29 incident.
