Ex-doc in hep C case called 'crazy like a fox'
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A prosecutor is again accusing a former Las Vegas physician of exaggerating his medical ailments to avoid trial on murder and other charges stemming a 2007 hepatitis C outbreak at his clinics.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that prosecutor Michael Staudaher on Tuesday accused Dipak Desai of being "crazy like a fox" in efforts to delay his trial.
Staudaher's comments came before a Nevada state judge ruled Tuesday that Desai's lawyer didn't raise new issues prompting another look at whether Desai is fit for trial.
Attorney Richard Wright said later that he'll consider appealing Clark County District Court Judge Valerie Adair's ruling to the Nevada Supreme Court.
Staudaher has in the past accused Desai of "malingering" to avoid trial, which is currently set in April.
