Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- One of the many new gadgets revealed at CES in Las Vegas is a smartphone that's safe to use in the bath or shower.

Sony announced the new Android-powered device, called the Xperia Z, at CES on Monday.

The phone can be left under water for up to 30 minutes without negative effects, the company says.

Executives with Sony say the Xperia Z is perfect for watching movies in the bath and can be washed in the shower.

The Xperia Z can even survive being dropped in the toilet.
