Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The man Metro detectives describe as a serial killer was in court Monday.
A Clark County District Court judge set a trial date for Nathan Burkett for March 2014.
Burkett is accused in three cold case murders dating as far back as 1978. All three women were strangled. Their bodies were found near Burkett's apartment.
Police said they linked him to the murders through DNA evidence.
Burkett agreed Monday to the long trial date after his lawyers and a prosecutor told Judge Douglas Smith, they need time to prepare for a death penalty trial relying on the DNA evidence from 1978 to 1994.
Burkett said he's not guilty in the crimes.
