Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A man killed while crossing the street over the weekend is being remembered.
Friends of Brian VanGorder said he was a hard worker who served his customers and his country.
It was after dark on Saturday evening when police said the man was struck by a car and killed while crossing Warm Springs near Valley View.
Officers said he was not near a marked crosswalk.
Friends admit VanGorder shouldn't have been crossing in the dark and outside of a marked crosswalk, but they hope others in the community learn from his fatal mistake.
"We would like to tell everyone in Las Vegas, let this be a wake-up call for you too," said friend Brad Bailey.
