Robbery suspect shot after firing at police officers
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A Las Vegas police officer was involved in a shooting in the area of Bonanza and Maryland Parkway early Sunday morning.
Metro told Action News a suspicious car with four people was spotted in the downtown area around 4 a.m.
As the officers approached the vehicle they recognized one of the occupants as the suspect in a armed robbery which occurred on Dec. 29, 2012.
As the officers were removing the occupants, the vehicle fled the scene. Officers pursued the vehicle for a short distance, then a male and female suspect fled on foot in different directions.
As officers were attempting to take the suspects into custody, the male suspect fired multiple rounds from a handgun at officers. One officer returned fire striking and injuring the suspect, who was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
The second female suspect was apprehended nearby a short time later without incident. No LVMPD Officers were injured in this event.
This investigation remains ongoing.
The identity of the suspects is not being released, because the investigation into the armed robbery is ongoing.
