Teen pedestrian dead, driver charged after crash in North Las Vegas
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- One of two teens struck by a car in North Las Vegas on Tuesday afternoon has died.
Police said the 18-year-old boy critically injured in the crash on Gliding Eagle Road succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday.
His identity has not been released.
The crash happened just before 4 p.m. on Gliding Eagle Road near Black Oaks Street. Police said the 18-year-old and a 16-year-old boy were walking on the sidwalk when the driver of a car lost control, hitting them both.
They were taken to University Medical Center in critical condition.
The driver of the car, 19-year-old Cristian Ivan Diaz, was arrested and jailed for failure to maintain a travel lane and for not having a valid driver's license. Police expect he will face additional charges following the victim's death and the outcome of the investigation.
A passenger in the car, 18-year-old Ricardo Daniel Velasquez, was arrested and booked for drug possession and destroying evidence.
Police said both Diaz and Velasquez live in North Las Vegas.
The 16-year-old girl remains in critical condition as of Wednesday evening.
