Local firefighters replace boy's Christmas presents lost in fire

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A longtime Las Vegas family is on their way to recovering from a devastating fire. The King family's home went up in flames on Sunday. They lost everything, including their dog and her puppies.
Now, a local organization has stepped in to make the start of 2013 a better one for the family.
Las Vegas firefighters made a special delivery on New Year's Eve. Operation Fire H.E.A.T. replaced all of 5-year-old Andrew King's Christmas presents, which were lost in that devastating fire.
"When the firemen got out they all had presents and just the look on his face seeing the bike and hulk hands and all the presents was just amazing," said Andrew's father, Paul King.
Overwhelmed by this generosity. It lifted the spirits of the entire family who had just watched their longtime family home and everything inside burn.
"He got to go inside the truck and they showed him all the little devices that they use," said King.
Now when Andrew sees a firetruck or hears those sirens, it won't take him back to the night he stood huddled and scared while his home burned.
"Last time he saw a firetruck there was a huge fire at the house, so he only knows that before yesterday," said King. "At least now when he hears firetrucks or sees sirens he's not going to think back about the experience of the fire, but the experience of the generosity of the firemen."
Although it will be a long road to recovery for Paul King and his family the start of the new year now looks a little brighter.
"Seeing the happiness of my son has made it all better absolutely. We keep our heads up. It's alright."
