North Las Vegas police stepping up patrols tonight
North Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The North Las Vegas Police Department has announced that it will step up its efforts tonight to stop celebratory gunfire and will also be looking for anyone who is driving under the influence.
Celebratory gunfire is an issue during the holidays. NLVPD would like to remind the public that firing a weapon within city limits is against the law.
In addition, narcotic users, convicted felons, fugitives, non-naturalized citizens and drunkards are specifically banned from possessing a firearm.
If you witness anyone shooting within city limits, please call 911 or 311 for non-emergencies.
NLVPD will also be on the watch for anyone driving under the influence between 8 p.m. tonight and 5 a.m. Tuesday morning. Officers will conduct traffic stops based on infractions such as speeding, running red lights, and failing to maintain travel lane in order to identify impaired drivers.
Officers will be patrolling throughout North Las Vegas.
