Gun-wielding driver shot by troopers after chase on U.S. 95
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A gun-wielding man was shot by a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper on U.S. 95 early Monday morning.
The chase started when a trooper attempted to make a traffic stop near Tropicana and Nellis Boulevard just before 4 a.m. The driver of a gray 2005 Buick Oldsmobile failed to stop, leading troopers north on U.S. 95.
Troopers tried to stop the car by using spike strips, but the driver kept going. Troopers said the car came to a stop on northbound U.S. 95 near Jones. That's when authorities said the driver got out of the car with a gun, running off.
Authorities fired at the man. He was then taken to University Medical Center and listed in stable condition.
A woman was also in the car at the time of the chase, but she was not hurt. No troopers were injured during the ordeal.
Las Vegas police are investigating the shooting.
