Police confirm a girl's body found in desert
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the discovery of a body near Dorrell Lane and North 5th Street in the northern part of the Las Vegas Valley.
During a press conference, Capt. Chris Jones would only say that a black girl's body had been found by a citizen that was walking their dog in the area.
Las Vegas police have been searching for 10-year-old Jade Morris since she went missing on Dec. 21. She was picked up that morning to go shopping with a family friend, Brenda Stokes.
Stokes, the fiancee of Jade's father, was arrested that night after allegedly slashing a co-worker's face with two razor blades.
LVMPD said during the press conference that the Clark County coroner's office would positively confirm the identification of the body that was found.
