Road closures, free bus rides announced for New Year's Eve
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Road closures have been announced for New Year's Eve in Las Vegas.
Beginning at 4 p.m. Dec. 31, the following eastbound exits from Interstate 15 will be closed:
-- Spring Mountain Road
-- Flamingo Road
-- Tropicana Avenue
Ramp restrictions will be lifted between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m., Jan. 1, 2013, or at the discretion of the Joint Operations Center in the Freeway Arterial System of Transportation. Escalators at Tropicana and the Strip will be shut down from 2 p.m., Dec. 31 to 2 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 1. Visitors are encouraged to take the stairs or the elevators. Prior to midnight, all stairs and escalators will be barricaded and elevators will be stopped as bridge access will be restricted to pedestrians.
Additionally, vehicle access will be restricted at:
-- Las Vegas Boulevard northbound at Mandalay Bay.
-- Las Vegas Boulevard southbound at Sahara.
-- Tropicana Avenue westbound at Koval Lane.
-- Tropicana Avenue eastbound at Industrial/Dean Martin Drive
-- Flamingo Road eastbound at Valley View.
-- The right lane on Sahara eastbound at I-15 will have one lane closed to allow a dedicated turn lane from the off-ramp at I-15 northbound to Sahara eastbound.

DOWNTOWN LAS VEGAS
The following road closures will be in effect:
2:00 pm – 4am: Fremont St at 4th Street
1:00 pm – 2 am: Alley south of Fremont between Las Vegas Blvd and 6th (“Get Back Alley”)
2:00 pm – 8:30am: Fremont St from Las Vegas Blvd to 6th
2:00 pm – 4am: Fremont St at Casino Center Blvd
2:00 pm – 4am: Single lane northbound on Main St at Fremont St.
In addition, the RTC is offering free rides from two of its park & rides for those wishing to attend the festivities downtown or on the Strip. Click here for more information.
Las Vegas police have also announced they will be enforcing various city ordinances throughout the holiday period.
