Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Clark County coroner's office has identified the man killed during a shooting at the La Ventana apartment complex on Dec. 24 as 35-year-old Maurice Robert Howard of Los Angeles.

Howard was killed after he and three other suspects forced their way into an apartment in an attempt to rob the two people inside.

The suspects knocked on the door at about 10 a.m. After the door was opened, they forced their way inside and began to beat the two residents of the apartment. However, they did not take anything.

The residents of the apartment then chased the suspects into the parking lot after retrieving firearms. Gunfire was exchanged between the burglary suspects and the residents and Howard was shot multiple times.

He was transported to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The three other suspects, two men and a woman, have not been arrested.

The residents of the apartment sustained minor injuries from the beating.
