Teen rescued after fall at Red Rock Canyon

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A teenager was hurt this morning after a fall while hiking at the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

It happened at about shortly before 9 a.m. this morning. A 19-year-old man was hiking with a group of friends in the Calico Basin area.

They had reached the top when the young man slipped from a boulder, possibly fracturing his leg.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Search & Rescue team was able to retrieve the young man using their helicopter and brought him down to safety.

He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he is being treated.
