House fire causes $50,000 in damage, kills 3 pets
Las Vegas (KTNV) --- Las Vegas Fire & Rescue responded to a house fire at about 1:30 p.m. in the 8900 block of Hillsboro Creek Court, near Gowan and Durango, in the northwest part of the valley.
Fire investigators believe that a slow fire burned for several hours before it broke a window out on the rear of the houses permitting smoke to escape.
Although the fire was contained to a fireplace, the thick black smoke and intense heat damaged nearly everything in the house.
The residents of the home were away for the holidays but three cats left behind died of smoke inhalation.
Damage to the home is estimated at $50,000. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
