Father arrested in connection to deaths of 3 children in mobile home fire
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The father of one of the three children that died during a mobile home fire on June 15 at a park near Las Vegas Boulevard North and North Lamb Boulevard has been arrested.
Shane J. Gouailhardou was arrested Sunday and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on charges of second degree murder.
His bail has been set for $600,000.
Skylar Lafia, David Gouailhardou and Aryana Lafia, all under the age of 3, died during the fire.
A grand jury indicted the parents, Shane Gouailhardou and Amy Hatzenpillar, last week.
According to their report, the parents were high on methamphetamine when the fire started. The parents escaped but the report said the drugs "caused them to be too impaired to care for and supervise their children" who were left inside the mobile home.
This was not the first time that the children had been a target of an investigation by the state. Welfare workers investigated abuse allegations involving Skylar and Aryana in April of 2012.
Child Protective Services had also received an abuse allegation involving David in June of 2011.
Both of those cases were closed.
District Attorney Steve Wolfson said that it was one of the worst cases of child neglect and child endangerment that he had ever seen.
