Man cleared in Vegas child death case sues county
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A Nigerian immigrant who was tried twice and acquitted of child abuse charges in Las Vegas is suing prosecutors and child protective services officials who he says tried for five months to prevent him from returning to his family.
Victor Fakoya says he knows he can't recover the more than two years he spent in jail or the time afterward that he spent fighting Clark County, the district attorney and Child Protective Services.
He's filed a $10 million federal civil rights lawsuit alleging that officials conspired to separate him from
Fakoya says he never hurt the 2-year-old son of a family that was living with him in Las Vegas in 2008.
