Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A 51-year-old local woman has contracted West Nile virus, according to the Southern Nevada Health District.

A Health District spokesperson said the woman has a "less serious" form of the illness and was not hospitalized.

West Nile-positive mosquito pools were also found recently in the 89121 and 89124 zip codes.

Cooler temperatures are expected to erradicate the spread of West Nile in the Las Vegas area.

The latest human case of West Nile brings the total to eight human cases in Southern Nevada this year. Of those, three patients had a less-serious form of the illness, five were hospitalized and one person died.

The death was the fourth West-Nile related death in Clark County since 2003, according to the Health District.

Other mosquito-positive pools in Southern Nevada were identified this year in the following area codes: 89011, 89107, 89141, 89145 and 89029.
